See This Is Why....
I glance at Twitter and see Aziz Ansari's name come up- first reaction: OH NO!
Then I got to texting with m'girl Margobot and she sends me THE ARTICLE of a woman's night with the 'lecherous' Aziz.
I was like NOT HIM TOO. Not the dude who wrote a book about romance in this tech age and says he is a 'feminist'.
Then I read the article and was brought back to being a 20 year old...not well adjusted and living in a society that perpetuates that woman oblige men but not be hoes but don't be prudes but be sexually free....and so on.
Then I realized that the girl who had the bad date (cuz thats what it was) with Aziz, wasn't that bright and wanted something she wasn't gonna get.
A relationship.
He wanted a one night stand. They were both silently trying to get what they want- until she finally left.
A few months later she sees him winning and decides to lay out the details of a bad date.
After sitting with this and even after initially reading the woman's story, I never felt like Aziz should be thrown into the 'bad batch' like Cosby, Weinstein, Spacey, etc..
....no Woody Allen though. People still swoon over this dude that married his daughter AND who has been accused by his other children of sexual abuse. Aziz has this bad date where no assault occurred and people want his head!
....this is also why I am side eyeing all these new female empowered movements. Sure they are great in theory, but the grandstanding...the t-shirts...the buttons that people wear cuz they are on trend- no thanks #Livestrong
We are going to hear a lot of stories of misconduct and/or hurt feelings, it's up to us to be discerning and not yell "off with his head" the first chance we get.
I wish Aziz luck because we know when white women get to clucking...it goes down (#GetOut).
